What makes my coaching different from other writing coaches:
I approach coaching from both a science and spiritual framework—I believe we are co-creators of our lives AND that we can use brain science to help us write.
I specialize in helping writers overcome resistance (procrastination, perfectionism, writer’s block). I am here to get you excited to write again and find more joy in your writing process.
I’m a firm believer in self compassion. If beating yourself up worked, it would have worked by now.
Because of my lived experience with ADHD, I come from a place of true understanding for neurodiversity & attract a lot of neurodiverse folks.
My focus is to get you to write.
What I Don’t Do:
Edit your work (I have editor friends who I can send you to). I am not a “workshopping” coach. Having someone revise your pages can often actually make writer’s resistance worse, and I’m not here for that. I want you to find joy in your writing and actually WRITE.
Focus on craft. While craft books and craft topics are super helpful for many people, practicing writing is what makes our craft better. I find that many of my clients struggle more with resistance when reading craft books. What makes a good writer? One who writes a lot and learns the craft by DOING.
Preach hustle culture. I do NOT subscribe to focusing on productivity and causing burnout. I have seen the consequences of burnout and never want to perpetuate that in my work with clients. I am here to help you create sustainable writing practices that will help you write book after book.
Teach you that there is only one way to write a book. If you’re looking for someone to say “you must write an outline” or give you an exact method, I am not that person. Writing is extremely personal and everyone’s process is different. It’s not a one size fits all approach. I am here to help you find your process & lean into that, not give you a process that you have to adhere to.
I have a Master’s in Publishing and a Bachelor’s in English Literature from UC Berkeley. I often like to call myself a “recovering academic.”
I worked at Bradford Literary Agency, where I assisted Laura Bradford with her query pile. I’ve seen hundreds of queries and know what a good one looks like.
I’ve worked with authors like Laini Taylor, Alex Aster, and Emily Suveda. I was the Director’s Assistant at Write On Con, an online children’s writers’ conference, and collaborated with hundreds of authors.
I struggled massively with writer resistance for years. It was only made worse in college. I dealt with overwhelming perfectionism which just made me procrastinate for years. But with help from others and with a writing coach, I was finally able to write again. I was able to finish novels. I was able to reclaim my power as a writer.
In 2021, I decided to shift gears and use my knowledge to help writers like you. I approach my coaching from a place of deep understanding and empathy. And I'd love to share what I've learned to help you love writing again, and make your dreams come true.
