What makes my coaching different from other writing coaches:

I approach coaching from both a science-backed and soul-rooted framework. I believe we are co-creators of our lives and that understanding how our brains work—especially around habit formation, our primal brain, and resistance—is one of the most powerful tools a writer can have.

I specialize in helping writers overcome resistance in all its forms: procrastination, perfectionism, self-doubt, avoidance, and that old nemesis, writer’s block. If you've lost your spark or feel stuck, I'm here to help you rediscover your momentum and reconnect with your writing process.

I’m a firm believer in self compassion. If beating yourself up worked, it would have worked by now.

Because of my lived experience with ADHD, I come from a place of true understanding for neurodiversity & attract a lot of neurodiverse folks.

Above all: my focus is to get you to write. Not to polish your pages. Not to perfect your outline. To write. To finish the messy middle. To build the muscle. To stop waiting for the “right” time and instead, start building your body of work one joyful (or gritty!) writing session at a time.

What I Don’t Do:

I don’t edit your work. I’m not here to redline your prose or offer critique—I can refer you to brilliant editors when you're ready for that step. My coaching is about helping you write more, not polishing what you’ve already written. For many writers, over-focusing on critique early in the process feeds resistance rather than easing it.

I don’t focus on craft theory. Craft books can be inspiring for some, and overwhelming for others. Many of my clients get stuck trying to “do it right” instead of just doing it. I believe the best way to improve your craft is by writing. Learning through practice builds your craft and intuition.

Preach hustle culture. I do NOT subscribe to focusing on productivity and causing burnout. I have seen the consequences of burnout and never want to perpetuate that in my work with clients. I am here to help you create sustainable writing practices that will help you write book after book.

Teach you that there is only one way to write a book. If you’re looking for someone to say “you must write an outline” or give you an exact method, I am not that person. Writing is extremely personal and everyone’s process is different. It’s not a one size fits all approach. I am here to help you find your process & lean into that, not give you a process that you have to adhere to.

I have a Master’s in Publishing from Portland State University and a Bachelor’s in English Literature from UC Berkeley. I often like to call myself a “recovering academic.”

I’ve worked at two different literary agencies & served as the Director’s Assistant at WriteOnCon, an online children’s publishing conference. My work has been featured in Dabble Writer, Perfect Your Process Summit, and multiple podcasts.

I blend my background in social work and book publishing to help my clients write. I focus on creative recovery and mastering the inner game of writing—the mind.

I’m passionate about helping writers embrace the “mess” of the writing process. My famous catchphrase is “No Mess, No Magic.”

“No mess, no magic.”
— Yours Truly, in regards to the creative process
